Positions
Seeking residents of Fort Bend County currently living in ESD 8, to serve a 2 and 1 year terms beginning Fall 2024.
Qualifications
See §§ 775.034, Texas Health and Safety Code
- Be 18 years of age;
- Be a resident of the state;
- Be a qualified voter within the ESD or owner of land subject to taxation in the ESD;
The commissioners court shall consider relevant factors in determining the individuals to appoint as emergency services commissioners, including whether the individuals have knowledge that relates to fire prevention or emergency medical services and that is relevant to the common policies and practices of the board.
Note that the above is only for ESD wholly in one county.
Disqualifications
Refer to Chapter 171, Local Gov’t Code, which is about the regulation of conflicts of interest.
Board Requirements
- Fort Bend County ESD Board of Directors will consist of residents who live in the district.
- Members must have a background in public infrastructure, public finance or a related field, such as geotechnical, hydrological, environmental science, urban planning or finance.
- A committee will review the applicants and make recommendations to Commissioner McCoy for board appointments.
- The Commissioner will present the names of selected nominees to Commissioners Court for approval.
